Gravity Bar

Glass balls, poor substitution

Gorgeous product and presentation, found lacking in functionality.

When purchased, the Gravity bar was shown with stainless steel balls inside, this was part of the products appeal to me. When mine arrived these seem to have been replaced with glass balls. I imagine these are lighter than the steel balls and therefore provide less "grip"

I bought the Gravity bar to hold artworks which could be swapped out as and when with ease, however, even a small A4 piece ended up on the floor. This was 200g watercolour paper. Pieces bigger than the A4 size are not held by the glass balls at all.

Maybe I was expecting too much, but I cannot help but think the original steel balls would have performed much better. Bit gutted to be honest after waiting 5 months for it to arrive.

We are sending a replacement Gravity Bar to this customer; theirs and 2 other recent reviews have helped us catch a manufacturing error when carving out the internals of the Gravity Bar for glass balls. We find glass to work better than steel when implemented properly. We have made the necessary improvements and are also now testing all Gravity Bars before they leave.

Great, but different.

We're very happy with the aesthetic of our walnut gravity bar, it has pride of place in our home. It did take awhile to arrive, the team at biglow switched from metal to glass ballbearings during that time. The glass ballbearings seem to work decently, however, I can't help but imagine the heavier metal ball bearings likely had better utility. Of course I can't say that with any certainty but it was slightly disappointing to have the product ordered be different than the product that arrived.
