you wanna know?
why biglow exists
We'd like to improve our relationship with material goods. The world has designed itself into a corner with cheap materials and questionable labour markets. Everything is an infinite scrolling feed, accelerating waste culture in every way. Our material possessions should be made better, last longer, and mean more to us. The world is in a bad place, and we'd like to move the needle toward change for the better, and hardwood is the perfect medium.
what we do
Anything that can be made from wood, should be made from wood. Our addiction to injection molded plastic profit margins has killed our ability to repair, and evaporated skillful craft positions. Fine woodworking is slow, and if you couldn’t tell; we think that’s kinda the point. Plenty of time to ensure we’re responsibly turning raw materials into something valuable, influencing every part from design to packaging.

when it started
Wood is an ancient carbon capture technology. When you make something from wood, the carbon is stored inside for as long as the product exists. People have been building sustainable goods from it forever, but lately it's a dying medium for products. We're changing that!
Brent started Biglow Woodcraft in 2015 to pursue his own need to create. He rented the back of an upholstery shop which turned out to be the perfect starting point. With access to proper machinery and a constant stream of luxury furniture, it laid the groundwork for the future of his business.
Biglow Woodcraft has since grown to a team of six people. We operate out of an old car wash building in Winnipeg, with our own big machines, and we make our own fine products.
