A hook is about as simple as furniture gets, which is exactly why Brent couldn't leave it alone. He sketched this design for years before finally making a set for his own front hall. Then we did the reasonable thing and made a big batch.

The clever bit

A small dovetail block screws to your wall, and the hook slides right over it. No visible screws, no wobble, and they lift off whenever you want to move them (or dust behind them, theoretically).

One long, one short. Coat on the long one, hat on the short one. Or the other way around. We're not your boss.

In the box: 2 hooks, 2 dovetail blocks, and screws.

Wood: Solid walnut or white ash.

Find a stud. Hooks get tugged on, so the dovetail blocks are made to screw into a stud. Hold the block in place, check it's plumb with a small level (or your phone), mark the holes, pre-drill, and screw it in. Go gently, since over-tightening can crack the block. Then slide the hook on.

No stud where you want it? Drywall anchors work too (not included). Just know your anchor's limits.

The fit: Snug on a flat wall, but easy to lift off. Want them to stay put for good? Put two peas' worth of caulking in the dovetail groove before you slide the hook on. A tap with a mallet frees it later.

Beautiful wall hooks

Beautifully made, quick delivery, easy to install. Comes with long screws to drill into your wall which should be enough, but I opted to use dry wall anchors as an extra precaution.

Note: this comes in a pack of two in different lengths, which I didn't realize - but is clearly listed on the product listing :)
